Home Schooling

If you are a home schooling family, you will certainly find fellowship with other home schooling families here at Calvary Chapel Cobb. The Lord is doing great things in our fellowship and blessing our families so much. He has laid it on our hearts that we need to just get together and spend time together, so that friendships can be built, encouragement can be given, individuals can grow, families strengthened, and ultimately that we may be a hopeful light to our community, a reflection of Jesus Christ.

We warmly and whole-heartedly welcome you to come and join us! You may find us planning an outing of some sort, whether it be a field trip, a local hike, a park-day or sports day, a holiday themed party, or a Mom's or family event. Our children's ages range from babies to high-schoolers. ALL are welcome!

Home education is growing strong. The world's original and most successful educational system has been resurrected from history as families across the country have sought answers to the alarming problems their children are facing. Parents of children of all ages are tremendously concerned by the negative social experiences and the damage peer pressure causes to the individuality and the creativity of their children. Home education allows these parents the opportunity to be more selective in their children's activities all while granting their children the maximum chance to be exposed to positive influences.

Today, Christian parents are recognizing more and more their responsibility to nurture and strengthen their children in the safety and shelter of the home until the child has gained enough strength and Godly knowledge, understanding, and wisdom to be able to stand alone. For some it may be at age 12, for others at age 18. Our children need to be trained for the most hazardous, exacting calling of all - being ambassadors for Christ.

What is your reason for home schooling your child? Is it any of the following?
  • Everyone around me is doing it.
  • I feel guilty leaving her in school so many hours of the day.
  • I can't afford a Christian school but don't want her in a public school environment.
  • I want my child to excel scholastically above her peers.
  • I am dissatisfied with the public schools.
  • It sounds interesting and I just want to try it for a year.

Or, is it a personal conviction and you believe it to be the best you can offer your child?

Let us encourage you with scripture. Philippians 4:3-7 says, "And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel...Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace that passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." May God Bless you richly as you seek Him in your schooling journey!

Serving Him,
Sarah Castro
